Thank you for helping the Jersey Biodiversity Centre to inspire more people to care for nature.
We are a small charity with three part time members of staff and we rely on the help of volunteers to run a variety of activities throughout the year.

We have different volunteering roles at the Centre, and you can volunteer when it suits you.

Events: Throughout the year we attend different nature themed events to run children activities, creepy crawly hunts, craft events. At these events we talk to the public about nature either around the island or in their home gardens. We often have a variety of animal homes that we sell to raise funds for our schools project. These events are normally run at weekends.

Article writing: On our website we have news and articles page, if you like writing about nature and want to tell stories of your wildlife spotting places you can send us your finished articles to be added to the website and also posted on Facebook. This is something you can do from home and send in.

Website content creation: If you’re feeling creative you can create wildlife photo guides or activities, puzzles and games for children to use, these we can add to the website and distribute to schools and clubs around the island. This is something you can do at our office or at home.

Surveying: If you’re interested in a particular animal species or group of species you can volunteering your time by conducting surveys around Jersey. We can assist you by providing equipment and training.

Research projects: If you want to conduct a more in depth project of a species or group we would love you to spend time collecting data and writing reports that can be published to the States Environment Department and on our website.

Fundraising: Get creative thinking of ideas to raise much needed funds and support for the Centre. We work with school aged children, teenagers and adults interested in natural history and different fundraising activities will inspire different groups.

Other (please state): If there are other areas you would like to volunteer please let us know how you can help.
